Mirroring360 is a screen mirroring tool that allows you to wirelessly project (mirror) the screen of your iPad, iPhone, Android, Chromebook, Windows PC, or Apple Mac device on the lectern Desktop PC within all centrally controlled learning spaces at UQ, without the need for hardware or cables. Up to four devices can be mirrored on the Desktop PC at once.

This user guide covers the process of running the Mirroring360 Receiver application on a lectern Desktop PC, installing the Mirroring360 sender application on your portable device, and mirroring your device on the lectern Desktop PC's screen.

 

Installing the Mirroring360 Receiver on a UQ Windows PC

The Mirroring360 receiver application is installed on the lectern Desktop PC within all centrally controlled learning spaces at UQ, though you may wish to install the application on the Windows PC within other learning areas and meeting rooms. Please choose your installation method from the two options below:

Installing Mirroring360 from the Software Center

  1. Locate and Run the Software Center on the Windows PC.

  2. Locate and select Mirroring360 Receiver from the list of applications.

  3. Select the Install button option to install the application.

Installing Mirroring360 from the installer package

Please note, this installation method will not work if you do not have administrative privleges on the UQ Windows PC.

  1. Download the Mirroring360 Receiver application here. You may be required to log in with your UQ credentials.

     
  2. Once downloaded, locate the file on your computer then double click on the file icon to run the installer.
     
  3. Follow the prompts to install the application to your Windows PC. If you encounter a User Account Control warning, just select Yes and continue with the installation.

 

Running the Mirroring360 Receiver on a lectern Desktop PC

In order to mirror your portable device on a lectern Desktop PC in a UQ learning space, you must first ensure that the Mirroring360 application is running on that computer, and is ready to receive mirroring connections.

  1. Using the AV touch panel in the room, power ON the room's AV system, then select the Desktop PC source button to show the lectern Desktop PC's screen on the room's display. 
     
  2. Log on to the lectern Desktop PC with your UQ credentials, or with the following generic login credentials:
            Username: lecture        Password: lecture
     
  3. The lectern Desktop PC must have an active internet connection for Mirroring360 to function. Open an internet browser and log in with your UQ credentials. If you do not see a UQ login screen, visit login.uq.edu.au.
     
  4. Run the Mirroring360 application via the icon on the Desktop, or locate Mirroring360 in your list of Programs.

    If you encounter the following error at this point, then the lectern Desktop PC does NOT have an active internet connection. Please see Step 3 above. 

    The Mirroring360 application may need to register its license after opening, which is an automated process. Please wait a few seconds for this process to complete.
     
  5. With the Mirroring360 application now running on the lectern Desktop PC, select the General tab to display the Computer Name, and the Mirroring ID. These details will be required for portable devices to mirror on the room's Desktop PC.

    You may select the Mirroring Assist button option to display these same details in a larger format.

  6. Follow the device-specific instructions to install and mirror a portable device on the lectern Desktop PC. Once one or more devices have been connected, double click on the the Mirroring360 application window to expand the application to full screen.

    Please note that up to four devices can be connected at once.

Mirroring from a Windows PC

Installing the Mirroring360 app on your Windows PC device

For devices NOT owned or managed by UQ Information Technology Services:
Please follow these instructions if you are using your own personal device, which is not owned or managed by UQ ITS.

  1. Download the Mirroring360 for Windows PC application to your device. You may be required to log in with your UQ credentials.

     
  2. Once downloaded, locate the file on your computer then double click on the file icon to run the installer.
     
  3. Follow the prompts to install the application to your Windows PC. If you encounter a User Account Control warning, just select Yes and continue with the installation.
     

 

For devices owned or managed by UQ Information Technology Services:
Please follow these instructions if you are using a device which is owned or managed by UQ ITS.

  1. For ITS managed devices, the Mirroring360 application can be found within the Software Center. To locate the Software Center, press the Windows Key on your keyboard, then search for "Software Center" in your list of programs.
     
  2. With Software Center loaded, locate and select the Mirroring360 Sender application.
     
  3. Select the Install button option to install the application to the device.
     

Mirroring from a Windows PC device

  1. Ensure your Windows PC device is connected to a UQ Wi-Fi network, such as eduroam or UQ.
     
  2. Locate and run the Mirroring360 Sender application on your Windows PC device.

    The Mirroring360 application may need to register its license after opening, which is an automated process. Please wait a few seconds for this process to complete.

  3. Select the Quick Connect option to add a new Mirroring360 receiver to your list of devices.

  4. Identify the Mirroring ID of the lectern Desktop PC, enter that number within the Quick Connect tool on your own Windows PC, select add, then close the Quick Connect tool.

  5. Select the Play icon next to the name of the Desktop PC to which you wish to connect. The icon and title will turn red to indicate that your device's screen is currently mirrored on the lectern Desktop PC.

     

Mirroring from an Apple Mac

Installing the Mirroring360 app on your Apple Mac device

PLEASE NOTE: This app is a beta release for MacOS, which means that the app is fully functional and safe to use, though you may encounter small issues or bugs.

  1. Download the Mirroring360 for MacOS application to your device. You may be required to log in with your UQ credentials. Your Apple Mac device will need to be running MacOS X El Capitan 10.11 or above.

     
  2. Once downloaded, locate the file on your computer then double-click on the file icon to run the installer.
     
  3. Follow the prompts to install the application to your Apple Mac device.
     
  4. Once installed, you will need to give Mirroring360 permission to control your device. Open your device's System Preferences, then select the Security & Privacy option.
     
  5. Select the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the Security & Privacy window, then enter the credentials for your device, if required.
     
  6. Enable Mirroring Assist by placing a tick in the coinciding tick box, select the padlock icon again, then close the Security & Privacy menu.

     


Mirroring from an Apple Mac device

  1. Ensure your Apple Mac device is connected to a UQ Wi-Fi network, such as eduroam or UQ.
     
  2. Locate and run the Mirroring Assist application on your Apple Mac device.

  3. Find the S icon in your menu bar, then select the Mirror Screen to a Device option.

  4. Identify the Mirroring ID of the lectern Desktop PC, enter that number within the empty field on your Apple Mac device, then select the Mirror button option. Your device should now be mirrored on the lectern Desktop PC.

    PLEASE NOTE: If you encounter the "App accessibility is required" error pictured below, you will need to give the Mirroring360 application permission to control your computer. Please see Step 4 of the installation instructions above.

  5. To disable mirroring, select the AirPlay icon in menu bar, then select Turn AirPlay Off.

Mirroring from an Android device

Installing the Mirroring360 app on your Android device

Visit the Play Store on your Android device, then search for the Mirroring360 Sender Basic app created by Splashtop. Find the correct app in the search results, then select INSTALL to install the app to your device.


Mirroring from an Android device

  1. Ensure your device is connected to a UQ Wi-Fi network, such as eduroam or UQ.
     
  2. Locate and run the Mirroring360 Sender app installed on your Android device.
     
  3. Select the Mirroring Assist option in the lower right corner of the interface, then enter the Mirroring ID shown on the lectern Desktop PC.

 

 

Mirroring from an Apple iPhone or iPad

Installing the Mirroring360 app on your Apple iPhone or iPad device

Visit the App Store on your iPhone or iPad, then search for the Mirroring Assist app created by Splashtop Inc. Find the correct app in the search results, then select GET to install the app to your device.


Mirroring from an Apple iPhone or iPad device

  1. Ensure your device is connected to a UQ Wi-Fi network, such as eduroam or UQ.
     
  2. Locate and Run the Mirroring app installed on your device.
     
  3. Select the Mirroring ID option in the lower right corner of the interface, enter the Mirroring ID shown on the lectern Desktop PC, then select OK.
  4. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to open your device's Control Centre, select the AirPlay Mirroring option, then select the room to which you wish to connect from the list.

    Your device should now be mirrored on the lectern Desktop PC.
