In order to prepare for migration to 365 it is advisable that you reconfigure your email settings. 

If you are setting up your account for the very first time (in other words, you are new to UQ), follow the default setup instructions

If you need to remove your account to resolve configuration problems, please follow the email account removal guide.

Note: The following instructions may appear slightly different to your specific device due to the multitude of different operating systems and versions.

Mail for iOS

iOS 11 guide

  1. Tap the 'Settings' app then tap 'Accounts & Passwords'
  2. Tap your UQ account then tap 'Account'
  3. Change the username to uqusername@uq.edu.au (e.g. uqjcitiz@uq.edu.au) and tap 'Done'.


iOS 10 guide

  1. Tap the 'Settings' app and then tap 'Mail'
  2. Tap 'Accounts'
  3. Tap your UQ account then tap 'Account'
  4. Change the username to uqusername@uq.edu.au (e.g. uqjcitiz@uq.edu.au) and tap 'Done'.


​Remove a configuration profile

If you are unable to edit your account settings, you may have a configuration profile stored on your device. To remove the profile:
  1. Tap 'Settings'
  2. Tap 'General'
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap 'Profiles'
  4. Select the profile you wish to remove and tap 'Delete Profile'
    If you have a passcode for your device, you will be prompted to enter it. 
  5. Tap 'Delete' to remove the profile.

 

Outlook for iOS

You will need to remove and set up your account again if you use Outlook for iOS.

  1. Open Outlook and tap 'Log-in'.

  1. Tap the rubbish bin icon to remove your account.

  1. Enter your UQ username followed by @uq.edu.au, then tap 'Add Account'.

    Gmail for Android

    You will need to remove and set up your account again if you use Gmail for Android.

    1. Open Gmail and tap the back arrow.

    1. Go to 'Settings' (cog icon) then tap the icon with three dots and select 'Manage Accounts' and then 'Continue'. 

    2. Tap 'Accounts' (or 'Cloud and Accounts'), then 'Exchange' and then tap your account.

    3. Tap the icon with three dots and tap 'Remove account'.

    5. Open Gmail, tap the menu icon and then tap the up arrow.

    6. Tap 'Add Account' and tap 'Exchange and Office 365'. 

    7. Enter your UQ username followed by @uq.edu.au and then tap 'Next'. 

    8. Enter your UQ password and tap 'Next'.

    9. Tap 'OK' and then 'Activate'.

    Outlook for Android

    You will need to remove and set up your account again if you use Outlook for Android.

    1. Open Outlook and tap 'OK'. 

     

    2. Go to 'Settings' (cog icon) and select your account. Tap 'Delete account' then tap 'Add account' > 'Add email account'. 

    3. Enter your username followed by @uq.edu.au and tap 'Continue'.

    Mail for Android

    You will need to remove your email account, Please follow the email account removal guide. Once completed please follow the Fresh configuration guide.

    Mail for Mac

    You will need to remove your email account, Please follow the email account removal guide. Once completed please follow the Fresh configuration guide.

    Outlook 2016 for Mac

    When you first open Outlook after your account has been migrated, two prompts will appear as shown.
    On the first prompt, tick Always use my response for this server and click Allow.
    On the second prompt, click No.

    Click the Outlook menu and click Preferences...



    Click Accounts



    Select your account and type your UQ username followed by @uq.edu.au into the User name field as shown, then press Enter.



    Close the Accounts menu and an Account Information prompt will appear.
    Enter your UQ password 
    Tick Remember this password in my keychain and click OK.

     

     

    Outlook 2016 for Windows 7

    When you first open Outlook after your account has been migrated, a login prompt will appear.
    Enter your UQ username in the form <username>@uq.edu.au followed by your UQ password.
    Tick Remember my credentials and click OK.

    Confirm Outlook is reconnected to your email by checking the status on the bottom of the Outlook window. The status will display Connected to: Microsoft Exchange.

     

     

    Outlook 2016 for Windows 10

    When you first open Outlook after your account has been migrated, a login prompt will appear.
    Enter your UQ username in the form <username>@uq.edu.au followed by your UQ password.
    Tick Remember my credentials and click OK.

    Confirm Outlook is reconnected to your email by checking the status on the bottom of the Outlook window. The status will display Connected to: Microsoft Exchange.

     

    IMAP Settings

    Sometimes older or non-supported Mail clients won’t accept Outlook Exchange Accounts Automatically. *Please note it is recommended to use Outlook to get full use out of your mailbox as non-supported mail clients will be limited.Office 365 is available Free for staff via Office 365

    Below is the information needed to manually setup your mail client:

    Server name: outlook.office365.com

    Port: 993

    Encryption method: TLS

    SMTP Settings will Automatically Populate
