From time to time, you may need to reconfigure your email settings. If you are setting up your account for the first time, follow the setup instructions

If you require to remove your account please follow the Email account removal guide.

Mail for iOS

To reconfigure your email account settings if you use Mail for iOS:

  1. Tap the 'Settings' app then tap Mail > Accounts
  2. Tap your UQ account
  3. Enter your account settings as shown below, then tap 'Done'.
  • Server: outlook.office365.com
  • Domain: Leave blank, or enter uq.edu.au
  • Username: Your UQ username followed by @uq.edu.au

Outlook for iOS

You will need to remove and set up your account again if you use Outlook for iOS.

Step 1. Open Outlook and tap 'Log-in'.


Step 2. Tap the rubbish bin icon to remove your account.


Step 3. Enter your UQ username followed by @uq.edu.au, then tap 'Add Account'.
 


Step 4. Enter your UQ password and tap 'Sign in'.

Gmail for Android

You will need to remove and set up your account again if you use Gmail for Android.

Step 1. Open Gmail and tap the back arrow.


Step 2. Go to 'Settings' (cog icon) then tap the icon with three dots and select 'Manage Accounts' and then 'Continue'. 


Step 3. Tap 'Accounts' (or 'Cloud and Accounts'), then 'Exchange' and then tap your account.


Step 4. Tap the icon with three dots and tap 'Remove account'.


Step 5. Open Gmail, tap the menu icon and then tap the up arrow.


Step 6. Tap 'Add Account' and tap 'Exchange and Office 365'. 


Step 7. Enter your UQ username followed by @uq.edu.au and then tap 'Next'. 


Step 8. Enter your UQ password and tap 'Next'.


Step 9. Tap 'OK' and then 'Activate'.

Outlook for Android

You will need to remove and set up your account again if you use Outlook for Android.

Step 1. Open Outlook and tap 'OK'. 


Step 2. Go to 'Settings' (cog icon) and select your account. Tap 'Delete account' then tap 'Add account' > 'Add email account'. 


Step 3. Enter your username followed by @uq.edu.au and tap 'Continue'.


Step 4. Enter your UQ password and tap 'Sign-in'.

Mail for Android

If you have problems after completing the process below, delete your account completely and start again.

Step 1. When you first open Mail after your email account has been migrated, your email will not sync. 


Step 2. Tap the menu icon then go to settings (cog icon) and tap your account. 


Step 3. Scroll to bottom of screen and tap 'Exchange Server Settings'.


Step 4. Re-enter your password and check the Exchange server is outlook.office365.com then tap 'Done'.

 

 

Mail for macOS

You will need to remove and set up your account again if you use Mail for macOS.

  1. Go to the Apple menu then click 'System Preferences'. 
  2. Click 'Internet Accounts' and select your account. Click the minus icon (–) to remove it
  3. Open Mail and select 'Exchange' then click 'Continue'. 
  4. Enter the following information, then click 'Sign In':
  • Name: Your name.
  • Email address: Your UQ username followed by @uq.edu.au (e.g. uqjblogs3@uq.edu.au). 
  • Password: Your UQ password.

Tick any other apps you want to use with your account, then click 'Done'.

Outlook 2016 for Mac

When you first open Outlook after your account has been migrated, two prompts will appear as shown.
On the first prompt, tick Always use my response for this server and click Allow.
On the second prompt, click No.

Click the Outlook menu and click Preferences...



Click Accounts



Select your account and type your UQ username followed by @uq.edu.au into the User name field as shown, then press Enter.



Close the Accounts menu and an Account Information prompt will appear.
Enter your UQ password 
Tick Remember this password in my keychain and click OK.

Enter your UQ password again and click Sign in.

 

Outlook 2013 for Windows 7

When you first open Outlook after your account has been migrated, the below prompt will appear.
Tick Don't ask me about this website again and click Allow.

Ensure your username is entered in the form <username>@uq.edu.au as shown, then enter your UQ password.

A prompt will appear asking you to close and restart Outlook. Click OK, then close and reopen Outlook.



Another prompt will appear. Ensure your username is entered in the form <username>@uq.edu.au
Type your UQ password
Tick Remember my credentials and click OK.

Outlook 2013 for Windows 10

When you first open Outlook after your account has been migrated, a login prompt will appear.
Enter your UQ username in the form <username>@uq.edu.au followed by your UQ password.
Tick Remember my credentials and click OK.

A prompt will appear asking you to close and restart Outlook. Click OK, then close and reopen Outlook.

Outlook 2016 for Windows 7

When you first open Outlook after your account has been migrated, a login prompt will appear.
Enter your UQ username in the form <username>@uq.edu.au followed by your UQ password.
Tick Remember my credentials and click OK.

Confirm Outlook is reconnected to your email by checking the status on the bottom of the Outlook window. The status will display Connected to: Microsoft Exchange.

 

 

Outlook 2016 for Windows 10

When you first open Outlook after your account has been migrated, a login prompt will appear.
Enter your UQ username in the form <username>@uq.edu.au followed by your UQ password.
Tick Remember my credentials and click OK.

Confirm Outlook is reconnected to your email by checking the status on the bottom of the Outlook window. The status will display Connected to: Microsoft Exchange.

 

IMAP Settings

Sometimes older or non-supported Mail clients won’t accept Outlook Exchange Accounts Automatically. *Please note it is recommended to use Outlook to get full use out of your mailbox as non-supported mail clients will be limited.Office 365 is available Free for staff via Office 365

Below is the information needed to manually setup your mail client:

Pop Settings are disabled by default

IMAP setting

Server name: outlook.office365.com

Port: 993

Encryption method: TLS

SMTP Settings will Automatically Populate
