This guide is based on the Lollipop version of the Android Operating System. The guide uses the Google Gmail application, which is now the default email application on newer versions of Android.

Accessing your Gmail settings

  1. Locate the Gmail application on your device. Tap the icon to launch the application.
  2. When the application has opened, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.

     
  3. With the menu open, scroll down and tap Settings.

     
  4. Tap Add Account

Configuring your email account

  1. Select Exchange and Office 365 from the list of account types
  2. Where it says enter your email, enter your username in the format of username@uq.edu.au (e.g. uqjcitiz@uq.edu.au) and then tap Manual setup.
  3. Complete the fields on the page as instructed below:
    1. Enter your username in the format of username@uq.edu.au (e.g. uqjcitiz@uq.edu.au). Please note that your username must be entered in this format. If you enter your email address or another format you will not be able to connect.
      Note : If you are asked to enter a domain name, please enter UQ\ before your UQ username (e.g. uq\uqjcitiz).
    2. Enter your UQ password 
    3. Enter exchange.uq.edu.au into the server field.
    4. The port and security type should automatically default to the correct information (Port: 443, Security Type: TLS/SSL )
    5. Tap Next

Finalising the account setup

  1. If you receive a Remote security administration alert, simply tap OK

     
  2. Select the sync settings of your choice, then tap Next

     
  3. Tap Activate
