Before installing Office, please consider the following:

  • As a UQ staff or student you can install Office on up to 5 personal computers.
  • Your computer does not need to always be connected to the internet but does need to ‘check in’ to validate the licenses approximately every 30 days.
  • Once staff leave or student discontinues study at UQ all Office licenses will be removed.
  • OneDrive and Lync/Skype services are not available at this stage.
  • Service is supplied ‘as-is' and support request/faults can be resolved by using hte Microsoft Support page https://support.microsoft.com/en-au or contact AskUs for students.
  • This is not an ITS managed service.

1. Installing Office 365

On the computer where Office is to be installed, login to https://login.microsoftonline.com

Students: Please be sure to use your student email address (e.g. j.smith@uqconnect.edu.au) and your email password.

Staff:  Your username must be entered in the format of username@uq.edu.au (e.g. uqjsmit@uq.edu.au) and your staff password.

Click Office 365

Click Install Office 2016

Once the installation file has downloaded, locate the file in your Downloads folder and double-click the file to run it. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the Office suite. After you have installed the software, you will be asked to log into your Office 365 account again.
