Office 365 is a suite of applications. It includes Office Pro Plus (this will always be the latest version of Office), as well as other productivity applications.

Before installing Office 365, please consider the following:

  • As a UQ staff or student you can install applications on up to 5 personal computers.
  • Your computer does not need to always be connected to the internet but does need to ‘check in’ to validate the licenses approximately every 30 days.
  • Once staff leave or student discontinues study at UQ all Office 365 licenses will be removed.
  • OneDrive and Lync/Skype services are not available at this stage.
  • Service is supplied ‘as-is' and support request/faults can be resolved by using the Microsoft Support page or contact AskUs for students.
  • This is not an ITS managed service.

1. Installing Office 365

On the computer where Office is to be installed, login to

Students: Please be sure to use your student email address (e.g. and your email password.

Staff:  Your username must be entered in the format of (e.g. and your staff password.

Click Office 365

Click Install Office 2016

Once the installation file has downloaded, locate the file in your Downloads folder and double-click the file to run it. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the Office suite. After you have installed the software, you will be asked to log into your Office 365 account again.
