Account details

  • 50GB download allowance per month. Your download allowance is used whenever you access UQ internet services using your UQ username and password. Access to UQ web pages and most Australian university websites (except Notre Dame, Southern Cross and Bond universities) do not count against your download allowance.
  • Purchasing additional data. You can purchase additional data by visiting the ITS team in the Prentice Centre, St Lucia campus. HDR students must ask their school for access to additional data.
  • Unlimited usage hours. You have unlimited hours when you connect to UQ internet services via your student account.
  • Wifi access. There are three wifi networks on UQ campuses: UQ Wifi, Eduroam and UQ Visitor. Learn more.
  • Password advice. Visit the UQ password guide for information about resetting or choosing a password.
  • Email access. Every student receives an official UQ email address with 50GB mail storage. The University sends important messages to this address, so we advise you to check it at least daily. Remember, your UQ email address and password are different to your UQ username and password.
  • 100MB disk space. You can access your student hard drive (H: drive) after logging in to myUQ and clicking 'Apps' > 'myFiles'.
  • VPN. A virtual private network (VPN) lets you create a secure connection to UQ's network from home just like you are on campus. This gives you full access to most services found on UQ's network. Students at Herston will need to connect via VPN in order to access wifi. Learn more.
