On Windows, you can group or arrange your most commonly used programs on both the Start menu and the taskbar.

In the Start menu

Pinning an application

  1. Select the Start menu.
  2. Find the program you want to pin, and right-click it.
  3. Select Pin to Start.

Organising the application tiles

Select and drag each program’s tile to its new location.

Unpinning an application

  1. Select the Start menu.
  2. Right-click the program you wish to unpin.
  3. Select Unpin from Start.

In the taskbar

Pinning an application

  1. Select the Start menu.
  2. Find the program you want to pin, and right-click > More > Pin to taskbar.

Unpinning an application

  1. Right-click the program you wish to unpin.
  2. Select Unpin from taskbar.
 

Mac systems

There are two ways to create shortcuts (or pin applications) to your Mac desktop or dock.

By drag and drop

This method creates shortcuts in both desktop and dock.

  1. In Finder, locate the item you want to create a shortcut to.
  2. Select the programs or documents. You can select multiple items by holding Control and selecting each one.
  3. Hold the mouse button down, and drag the items to your desktop or dock.

By keyboard shortcut

This method creates shortcuts in the dock only.

  1. In Finder, locate the item you want to create a shortcut to.
  2. Select the item to add to the dock.
  3. Enter Control-Shift-Command-T.

Unpinning applications or deleting shortcuts

To unpin applications from the desktop or dock, drag them to the Trash.
