Cisco Jabber Guest is the ideal video conferencing solution for non UQ users wanting to connect to a UQ video conference or Cisco Jabber user. Unlike Cisco Jabber, you do not need an account to use Cisco Jabber Guest, and you do not need to install the Cisco Jabber client on your computer. This makes Cisco Jabber Guest the preferred solution for holding video conference meetings, such as interviews, with non UQ participants. It is also a fast way for UQ users to join a video conference if they have not yet had a Cisco Jabber account set up, or do not yet have the Cisco Jabber client installed on their computer.

Please Note: A significant limitation of Cisco Jabber Guest is that a user cannot send presentation content, although they can still receive presentation content being sent by participants using Cisco Jabber or a physical video conferencing system.

Using Cisco Jabber Guest for the first time

  1. This is the Cisco Jabber Guest link for the UQ Test Video Conference. Open the link with either Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Cisco Jabber Guest applet on your browser. The process will be a little different for each browser.
  3. Select the small cog icon in the lower left corner of the Cisco Jabber Guest interface, then use the drop down menus to make sure the correct speakers, camera, and microphone have been selected.
  4. Select the green Call button to place a call to the UQ Test Video Conference. Once connected, you should see and hear a UQ marketing video, and see a clock showing the current time.
