Any UQ staff member or student whose school of faculty has contributed to the ANSYS licence costs can use ANSYS from anywhere in Australia. If you are located at the St. Lucia, Gatton, or Herston, the License is obtained directly from the Volume Licence Manager server.

Since version 16, ANSYS uses 2 license ports: 2325, 1055 on linden.eait.uq.edu.au The two port numbers are the defaults, but the license server must be entered.

Access from all other locations can be made by VPN connection to the server (visit https://its.uq.edu.au/services/vpn )

If you already have ANSYS installed and wish to change to the new licence server, you can do this by right-clicking on the Client ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility (in the Windows start menu) and selecting Run as Administrator. The click on 'Specify the License Server Machine', select the existing server and click on 'Edit Selected Server Machine'.
