UQ has renewed the Adobe ETLA agreement. Key changes:

  • The existing serial number based licences will still work until October 2019 - but only with version 2018 and below.
  • In the future, staff who need to use the Creative Cloud products will be assigned a named user licence. This is expected to be implemented in Q1 2019. Until this happens you will not be able to use the 2019 version of the Adobe Creative Cloud products - upgrading to the 2019 version will switch Adobe Creative Cloud to trial mode.
  • Staff can no longer purchase home use licences from Kivuto/OnTheHub. In the future home use will be available via the named user licences. If home use is required urgently for UQ related work, please email software.licences@uq.edu.au for assistance.
  • Student labs are still licensed with serial number based licences. In early 2019 we are expecting a new method of activating the software in student labs. Until then, these computers cannot be upgraded to the 2019 version.
  • We no longer have downgrade rights to Master Collection CS6.

The Adobe Enterprise Term Licence Agreement (ETLA) is central funded and provides the Adobe products listed below for UQ owned computers at no charge.

Licence Type

The University of Queensland has entered into an Enterprise Term Licensing Agreement (ETLA) with Adobe for use of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.

The agreement runs from the 30th of October 2018 until the 29th October 2021. It entitles us to use named user licences for UQ employees, and device based licences for computer labs, libraries, and classrooms. Due to a grace period granted by Adobe, the previous licences will work until October 2019.

How do I install the software? (on UQ computers)

Staff using computers managed by ITS can self-install selected software applications using the Microsoft Software Centre.

Alternatively for UQ computers, please contact your local IT support team. If you’re unsure who that is, please contact ITS Servicedesk

Information for IT staff

For the Creative Cloud suite, ITS has created a number of installation packages for Creative Cloud products. The CC windows package needs to be installed via command line prompt.

The number of deployments needs to be recorded – we need to provide a report listing the number of installations that have been deployed at each annual renewal of this agreement. We also need to be able to provide this information if requested by Adobe or an Adobe appointed auditor.

Purchase of additional Adobe products (UQ computers)
