The following information relates to Microsoft Outlook 2016. This demonstration is done on Windows 10 using Outlook 2016. Other operating systems and versions of Outlook will look slightly different.

Step-by-step instructions

Start by launching Microsoft Outlook 

If you have not configured Outlook with another account:

  1. When prompted by the Microsoft Startup screen, press Next
  2. When asked if you wish to configure an email account, select Yes and press Next

If you have already configured Outlook with another account:

  1. When outlook has launched, select File in the top left
  2. Select Add Account

  1. Enter your name and email address as indicated in the format of username@uq.edu.au
  2. Click Next to continue
  3. Enter your UQ password and tick 'Remember my credentials'
  4. Click 'Next'
  5. Enter your UQ username and password on the Single sign-on prompt and click 'Login'
  6. Click 'Finish'

 

If you are setting your account up for the first time, Outlook will start loading your email from the server. If you have already configured at least one account previously, close Outlook, reopen it, then Outlook will start loading your email from the server.


Potential difficulties

If you did not tick remember my credentials it may ask you for your username and password again.
Make sure you select use another account, enter your username as uqusername@uq.edu.au, and enter your normal password
