Students, staff and members of the public can hire audiovisual equipment and services for events held at UQ facilities or UQ events held at other locations from UQ's authorised provider, con-sol.

Submit an AV Hire request

UQ students and staff can hire AV equipment by sending a request to UQAV@con-sol.com.au or by calling 1300 712 852.

Submit your request at least 10 working days before your event date whenever possible. Providing as much notice as possible allows enough time to review and respond to your request.

Please include the following in your request:

  • full name
  • department or group
  • contact number
  • event date, time and location (please be specific)
  • what AV and/or support you require.

con-sol will be in touch to discuss your requirements.

Hire costs

All equipment and service hire will incur a cost.

Prices depend greatly on requirements, please contact con-sol via UQAV@con-sol.com.au or 1300 712 852 to discuss your needs.

Payment

For UQ organisational units and staff, payment is processed via purchase order and invoice. For students and external organisations, payment can be made by card over the phone (card surcharge will apply) or via direct deposit. All charges will incur GST.

Your AV Hire booking will not be confirmed until payment is processed.

Microphone hire

All central teaching spaces at UQ contain at least one handheld and one lapel microphone. Larger venues may contain up to two handheld and two lapel microphones. See Radio microphone channels for further details.

Online and hybrid events

Zoom is currently the preferred platform for online and hybrid events. For events with a large online audience, it is recommended that a Webinar is used, rather than a regular Zoom Meeting. For further information on requesting a Webinar license, please visit our Zoom user guide.

Venue suitability

It's recommended that online and hybrid events are held within Zoom enabled venues. All central teaching spaces are Zoom enabled, as well as selected departmental spaces. Confirm that your venue is suitable for your AV requirements before making a room booking. Choosing an ill-equipped venue may significantly increase the AV hire cost of holding an online or hybrid event.

Technical support

Technical support for the duration of your event is subject to staff availability and cannot be guaranteed. Please provide advance notice to ensure crew availability.
