Terry Cronk of P&F electrical services has given notice that the Skerman Building Data Transmission room TR208 will experience a power shutdown from tomorrow 5am 6am on Tuesday 29 August. This will impact all network switching gear in TR208.

The shutdown is required to perform repairs on a faulty circuit suppling the building TR208. This fault has caused a few unplanned outages so far this year.

The main connection is now back to a brand new cable and usage can go back to normal operations. The temporary service using fibre cabling is also causing issues. The building is running on a wireless connection to another building. Please limit your usage to anything non essential as if there is too much traffic the wireless link will also drop out for 10 mins until it re-converges.

The backup fibre path has now become disconnected too. Although the cause is unknown it is likely that rodents are to blame. Repair work is continuing on the primary link to the affected buildings.

10GBit transceiver was faulty in port Te1/1/14 on 01-0042-DC1-AN5-Google, disconnecting the upstream link. Google caches were removed from serving URLs. Replaced transceiver, upstream link connected, Google confirmed and caches enabled for serving URLs.

This outage is to facilitate regular monthly operating system updates, security enhancements, and overall service improvements.

Clients and applications with databases hosted on the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 cluster, will experience a very brief service interruption whilst database instances are failed over between ITS data centres.

The service interruption duration is generally 60-120 seconds within the designated outage window. Affected applications and services typically reconnect automatically.

Although no impact to users has been reported to TRI IT or ITS, ISE login attempts for a short period around 12:16 may have not worked. Indirectly, RCD testing was underway and is a factor in our investigation. We are still defining both the scope of the outage, if any existed, and the cause.

There is currently an issue impacting 3G/4G data services in Qld. Telstra are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it as soon as possible.

Some users have reported that turning airplane mode off and on again seems to fix the issue.

Issue resolved at approximately 2.30 pm. Users may need to reboot their phone.
