Several DCs at the St Lucia site are to still to be decommissioned as part of the AD refresh project. As a move towards decommissioning, the following AD Domain Controller is to be demoted:

uq-adstl4.uq.edu.au

This DC is currently servicing the St Lucia site, but is to be decommissioned due to end of hardware life. It is not hosting additional services and newly promoted DCs are now available on the nextgen infrastructure to handle requests.

NOTE: Demotion of this DC will have an impact on services that are set to target it directly for the provision of Active Directory Domain Services, kerberos or ldap. It is strongly recommended for any services that have been configured in this way to either use DNS to identify available Domain Controllers, or target the highly available FQDN ad1.cc.uq.edu.au.

Clients and applications with databases hosted on the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 cluster, will experience a very brief service interruption whilst database instances are failed over between ITS data centres.

Services were restored at 6:30 PM Thursday night. Action taken was to move the HSRP and Spanning tree root bridge from long-pocket router 2 to router 1 for each vlan at the affected buildings, and this fixed the problem immediately. No errors in switch logs actually indicating any problem. The routers are due for replacement with replacement ones already ordered.

A suspected card fault at Fortitude Valley is causing occasional service flaps to Springfield/Polaris services, AARNet will be organising a card replacement between approximately 07:00 and 08:00 AEST 26/03/18.
This is affecting RDSI & Polaris services.

When flaps persisted after this morning's card replacement at Fortitude Valley, AARNet staff replaced cards at SPFD between 12:01pm and 1pm this afternoon. Since that replacement, we have seen no further errors or flaps on the link, and are hopeful that this has fixed the root cause of the recent flaps. AARNet will continue to monitor the link for the next few days before we can be certain that the fault has been corrected.

This outage is to facilitate regular monthly operating system updates, security enhancements, and overall service improvements.

Clients and applications with databases hosted on the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 cluster, will experience a very brief service interruption whilst database instances are failed over between ITS data centres.

The service interruption duration is generally 60-120 seconds within the designated outage window. Affected applications and services typically reconnect automatically.
